Usually when something like this happens, the company will help fix the issue.
We're back again with another viral TikTok video that recently got a lot of traction. We thought that we'd bring the video here to show all of you and get your opinion on what happened and what maybe should have happened.
Now, we all know that scammers are huge right now and people are having to be super cautious with literally anything they buy. Well, unfortunately, this woman didn't get the one up on the scammer who decided to use her AirBnB gift card before she could.
At first, she was confused about what happened, but then she contacted AirBnB to find out exactly what did happen. She expected a bit of help with the issue but what she was given was far from helpful and so she decided to take it to social media.
Her video went viral and people were invested in her story and many warned against the purchase of physical gift cards because this can most definitely happen. If you want to hear more about the situation and what happened, plus see some awesome responses to it then keep on reading.
We're going to dive into the original TikTok video and her story to share what exactly happened so you can form your own opinion.
She can be seen here holding up the gift card that she was trying to use and saying that AirBnB is the worst company to exist.
She says that she got the gift card as a gift from her friends and decided to use it, to which it stated that it had already been redeemed.
“I was like, ‘Well, that’s funny, because this particular gift card has this little scratch-off mechanism on the back, and I had to scratch it off one minute prior to trying to use it, so it’s been hidden this whole time,’” @trash_unreal said. “How could someone have redeemed it?”
Of course, she contacted AirBnB to see what could be done about the gift card balance. However, AirBnB forwarded her to a third party company that supplies the gift cards, but essentially they told her that she was misinformed.
Ultimately there was no help given in this situation.
“Christina—that’s not my name. That’s no. 1. That’s the bare minimum level of respect that you can give someone. … In a text chat interaction, my name is right there!” @trash_unreal said. “No. 2, that’s not what I asked.”
She explains that her encounter with their customer service wasn't great at all.
Well, this video was insightful. We definitely feel like AirBnB should refund her or help her out in some way for the inconvenience.
It's a really terrible situation and not getting any compensation for $175 is really at a loss. What do you think about this situation and how AirBnB handled it?
