The 1980s decade was definitely one of a kind—punk rock shirts, bigger hairstyles, and everything was neon. Even if you were born at a later time and never got to experience the bliss of living in the '80s, you can still get a sense of familiarity, thanks to popular TV shows nowadays like Stranger Things.
Pop culture was also at its prime in the '80s, and it gave us some of the best TV shows, movies, games, and toys of all time—ones that are still unmatched even three decades later. Sure, the things we have now are undoubtedly enjoyable because of all technology, but nothing truly beats the highs and the lows of living through the '80s as a kid or a young adult.
From mixtapes, and Walkmans, to hip-hop; this iconic decade didn't leave enough room for you to be disappointed. Maybe that's why people, even the younger ones now, are still left nostalgic over a lot of things in this decade—because it was just that monumental.
But if there's one thing that people sorely miss about the '80s, it's the lots and lots of iconic food and snacks that were so delicious back then, we would literally do anything just to taste them all again right now! Here are some of the most iconic ones:
1. Heinz Baked Beans Pizza
Indeed, there once existed a Heinz Baked Beans Pizza that has cheese! Only a few had the privilege to taste this meal, though—were you one of them?
2. Cartoonies
Cartoonies were these adorable snacks that have images of cartoon characters stamped on them. We're not gonna lie, a big part of why it was so delicious was because of our favorite characters on them!
3. Space Raiders
Lo and behold, our ever-favorite corn snack. This one featured Astra, the space goddess, and her rebel pirates, and even came with a small comic strip of them.
4. Salt ‘n’ Shake Crisps
Salt ‘n’ Shake was this tasty treat that had us looking for a little bag of salt that we have to put in the packet ourselves and shake around. This was rather annoying for adults, but as kids, we had so much fun with it!
5. Cadbury Wildlife Bars
Cadbury Wildlife Bars were simply just normal Cadbury bars that were wrapped with our favorite animals on the packaging. Great marketing!
6. Fiendish Feet Yogurts
Yogurts weren't really a thing that people got crazy for in the '90s, but these Fiendish Feet Yogurts turned the tables around. They were initially sold in four different flavors: Fangs a Lot (Strawberry), Spooky Wooky (Banana), Rattle 'n' Roll (Chocolate), and Frank 'n' Stein (Raspberry).
7. Kellogg’s Ricicles
Ricicles was our absolute favorite and it's a shame they are not available anymore. One possible reason for their discontinuation was the large amounts of sugar the product contained.
8. McCain Micro Chips
They're more known as "McCain Quick Chips" in the later times, but they will always be "Micro Chips" to us.
9. Toffo
Toffo used to be bought from our local newsagents but they have been sadly discontinued.
10. Angel Delight
As tasty and sweet as it was, Angel Delight was one of those products who single-handedly destroyed the teeth of kids back then, given how much sugar they contained. But we do pity the ones who never tasted this one even for just once!
11. Trio
Chocolate bars never get old, and Trio bars we're definitely the highlight of many people's childhoods.
12. Bird’s Ice Magic
Bird’s Ice Magic was a genius food invention—you had to pour runny chocolate on ice cream and wait for it to harden the next few minutes. And voila, you now have your homemade chocolate ice!
The years may come and go but nothing will ever truly beat the vibes, aesthetics, and food that the 1980s had—and you will surely understand this sentiment when you have watched shows set in the '80s or early '90s. A lot of things are different now, but we would love to be able to turn back time and recall our precious memories back then!
