I gotta say, a zombie outbreak is one of my rational/irrational fears. Luckily for me, I'm in the heart of the Midwest, good ol' Nebraska. In fact, Nebraska is considered 'Zone 1' on the map, which is very likely to survive.
Can you guess why? Well, let's find out.
It turns out, that certain experts have precise opinions on which states would be the best equipped to actually survive an outbreak, that would result in an attack from a herd of zombies. We are talking about climate change, political upset, and continual unrest in attempt to discontinue the human race as we know it.
If this is a fear of yours too. You might wanna think about moving to one of these 10 states listed.
So what other states do you want to be a resident of when the zombie apocalypse comes for us all?
- California
- Iowa
- Nebraska
- Minnesota
- Illinois
- Kansas
- North Carolina
- Wisconsin
- Indiana
- Washington
In that order in fact. Along with Texas, Missouri, and Georgia ranking near the top with them.
However, residents in the Northeast didn't fare too well unfortunately.
- Maine
- Vermont
- New Hampshire
- Massachusetts
- Connecticut
- Rhode Island
- New Jersey
Were all viciously hit with 'Zone 4' stamps.
But! All of these states give you a much better chance at survival, than say, if you lived in Nevada. Which came in absolutely stone cold last, of all 50 states.
The Golden State of California was deemed the safest haven in all of Zombie America. You can thank the sunny days, hot beaches, and the implementation of solar power in the area.
The rankings were made by the experts specifically after they analyzed the data of the most self-reliant states. So much so, that they targeted the aspects of survival for the long-term.
Agriculture, weapon ownership, solar energy, and each state's climate were the main turning point indicators.
If you know, you intend to survive the zombie wave, you'll need to be able to grow your own food.
However, growing your own food isn't the only indicator to survival though.
Crucial times call for desperate measures, so food that will literally last forever and can be easily prepared with the simplest of tools, are of the upmost importance to gather.
What the heck am I talking about?
Oh you know, the famous Zombieland obsession with Twinkies and the simplest of simple, Ramen-freakin-Noodles, bro.
Lucky for you, I've got the lowdown on Twinkies stash in the U.S. If you're looking for the yellow, spongy, delicious, absolutely horrible for you "delicacies" you'll need to hit up,
- Emporia, Kansas
- Columbus, Georgia
- Indianapolis, Indiana
They all have Twinkies bakeries that would satisfy your innermost desire.
As far as the ramen goes, the people of California and hardcore ramen-lovers have a heck of a lot in common. So, you could potentially use them as a bartering tool if you needed to.
However, there is only one state that crosses all three lists; sweet as a peach, Georgia. She comes in at 13th in 'Zone 1'.
Columbus is where you'll find the Twinkies bakery, and she's number 6 on the Ramen Noodle list.
I hope this information comes in handy for your bug-out plans. But if you're not prepared already, please don't fret. You've still got some time. Especially with the pandemic and all.
See what you can uncover as useful tools around your home. You're stuck in there anyway, right? We will likely have little to no warning when the zombie contagion begins, so stick with being safer rather than sorry. Get to steppin' and preppin'.
