Studies Show The Youngest Sibling Considers Themselves The Funniest and The Favorite

For years parents have been telling their children there are no favourites, and all jokes are equally funny. Although we all hear it, it turns out some of us don't necessarily believe it.

A study from YouGov has shown data which suggests the order of birth can dictate how a child sees their place within the family.

The study engaged British families with more than one child (over 86%), as you look over the below infographic, a clear divide becomes visible. The youngest sibling considers themselves the favorites, and the most relaxed where the oldest sibling identifies as more responsible and successful.

The study shows the older siblings believe themselves to be more responsible, more organised, and more family orientated.

By contrast, the youngest sibling rates themselves the favorite, consider themselves the funniest (can confirm, I think I am hilarious).

The study does state "To some extent age itself, rather than family dynamics, may be responsible for the differing characteristics.

The study does state

Older children, having had more time to get on in life, are more likely to say they are more successful than their siblings.

It is fair to assume family dynamics play a role in character development, parents soon shift their attention to new additions as they help them grow and develop, this extra attention would help make the youngest feel more favoured. Whereas the older siblings have to learn how to look after themselves and thus feel more organised and successful.

How about you? Are you the youngest? Do you believe you are the funniest, or the favorite?
