Man Gives His MIL Wrong Address To Protect Daughter From Gifts With Ill Intention

This is definitely a terrible situation and I don't think any of us blame him at all.

We're back at it again today with yet another Reddit post, and this time, we're looking into the AITA thread. This thread is one that we look at often because it just has so many controversial topics, and it's always so interesting to see what people have to say in the comments about all of this.

With this being said, this post today was submitted by a dad who ended up giving his MIL the wrong address to prevent her from being able to send his daughter gifts. It turns out that according to OP, the MIL was sending gifts that were related to his daughter losing weight, which clearly is not an okay thing to speak about with a child.

Regarding this situation, OP decided to make a call himself and give her the wrong address when she asked about sending his daughter birthday gifts to avoid her being able to send anything regarding weight loss or his daughter's weight at all.

The comments were pretty much all on the same page here, and they definitely are all saying the same thing, OP wasn't really criticized for what he did because he was simply trying to protect his daughter. OP starts off by explaining a little bit about his relationship with his wife and children.

This is where he really gets into talking about his wife's mother and her views on their daughter, which is what the main situation is in this story.

OP essentially says that there's nothing wrong with his daughter or her weight at all, that she's healthy and active.

This is when the MIL asks to get something for his daughter and he thinks of a way to deter her from being able to hurt his daughter.

This was actually a pretty interesting way to go about this and pretty smart considering everything.

His wife and his MIl are both very mad at him for giving the wrong address, but we expected that response from them.

Then he gets into what she sent for her birthday and now we really understand what the issue is because this was not innocent.

OP really just wants to know if he's in the wrong and if he handled this poorly or not.

His wife definitely is the one in the wrong because she should really be having this conversation with her mother.

Wife can't control everything that her mother does but it's definitely something that needs to be addressed by both of them.

This whole situation just sucks because clearly he is the only one that cares about how his MIL is acting towards his daughter.

Yep we agree with this but the wife should be upset about this situation as well, not just OP.

This situation is definitely sad, and we're happy that OP is there for his daughter to protect her since the mom seems not to care or is in denial. It's pretty clear what the grandma or MIL is trying to do here, and it's just sad to pressure a little girl like that.
