Woman Calls Out Friend's 'Unbearable Ugliness' In Public, Blames It For Her Obsession With Others' Looks

In a world full of peculiar passions and unusual hobbies, we all have that one friend who takes things to an extreme. Our narrator’s (Original Poster’s) friend was exactly that kind of person.

OP’s friend was completely obsessed with beauty – not just the general “you look nice today” kind, but the nitty-gritty anatomical kind. She spent hours in those peculiar online groups that dissect celebrities' facial features with surgeon-like precision.

They even had a running joke that most celebrities were "mid," whatever that meant. Odd? Sure. Harmful? Not usually. But there's always a tipping point.

Sometimes, when the duo hung out, OP’s friend brought along her objectively stunning cousin, who effortlessly snagged a modeling contract without so much as an audition. Unfortunately, her presence triggered a cascade of unfortunate comparisons.

OP’s friend would go on about her cousin’s beauty and then drag OP’s insecurities into the conversation. If it wasn’t her fat face today, it was her “weird nose” tomorrow.

The final straw was when she announced OP looked like a“used” 30-year-old in front of all her coworkers and cousins. For clarification, she meant a middle-aged alcoholic hag who’d been passed around a lot. This was followed by a bout of manic laughter.

OP snapped and fired back with all the venom that had accumulated for quite some time. She told her friend she looked like a sad horse who needed lots of plastic surgery to appear mildly presentable.

OP immediately felt guilty, but many mutual friends believed the friend deserved it. Maybe they were right, but OP still wondered if she went too far. Did she?

Redditors agreed OP wasn’t the villain here. The friend's cruel remarks crossed a line—it was inevitable that OP would eventually snap back.

Being the bigger person doesn’t mean staying silent. Sometimes, it means setting firm boundaries and standing up for oneself, even if it requires a little venom.
