"I would gladly switch places with him wealth wise"
Every night, people head on to get a good night sleep but you can't because you're battling something. Some people get up quite early because they suffer from insomnia, even when everyone else is asleep.
Approximately one-third of adults have symptoms of insomnia, making it the most prevalent sleep-related issue. Believe it or not, there are people who experience insomnia severe enough to be classified as a full-blown condition.
However, the main symptoms of insomnia are usually problems falling or staying asleep, which leaves sufferers distressed or finding it difficult to go about their everyday lives. One's risk of depression, weight gain and obesity, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, and memory and concentration issues can all rise if you don't get enough good sleep.
You may even appear older as a result. The original poster for today's story comes from a pretty wealthy family, but for the past 2 years, he's been getting really bad sleep.
The OP used to be incredibly eloquent, energetic, and good at school, but due to his insomnia, it’s all gone downhill. He has sought out every kind of help he can find, and nothing is working.
The OP has a friend who’s a lot poorer than he is, and he always talks about how privileged the OP is because he's rich. The OP told him that he would gladly switch places with him wealth-wise if it meant he could be well-rested again, but his friend found it offensive.
I told my friend I’d trade places with him in an instant if it meant I wouldn’t have to deal with my chronic insomnia anymore. He thinks this makes me TA due to seeing it as not acknowledging my privileged background.
What use are all the resources in the world if they don’t help at all? I’m still ending up in the same place I would if I had zero resources. I’ve had a sleep study done.
I’ve gone to sleep specialists, I’ve gone to psychologists, I’ve had various medications prescribed. Nothing has helped. I didn’t say he didn’t have any struggles compared to mine, just that I’d do anything to get rid of my insomnia.
The OP says that he has gone to sleep specialists, gotten various forms of medication and therapy but nothing has ever helped him sleep well enough. Everybody says that if someone's grass were greener than ours, we would have traded places since we are truly unable to accomplish it.
But then, we will never truly be able to understand what someone else is going through. The OP was declared the AH and that's a wrap.
