In every firm, complaints from customers are inevitable, but how you respond to them can have a significant impact on your career as a boss or customer service manager. Ignoring customer concerns can have detrimental effects on your relationships, reputation, and performance.
Losing the confidence and allegiance of customers is among the most evident effects of disregarding their complaints. When customers voice concerns about your product or service, they want to be taken seriously and treated with respect.
You are conveying a message that you don't value their needs, happiness, or opinions if you choose to disregard their complaints. This can lower client retention and recommendations while harming the perception of your brand.
So you must respond to consumer complaints right away, genuinely apologize, and provide a solution that lives up to their expectations if you want to avoid this. The OP of today's story asked to speak to the manager of a local restaurant in order to report a waiter who was totally ignoring him.
The waiter talked to his girlfriend first to take her order and still asked her what her boyfriend would have when he was right there. On top of that, the waiter who serves their meals and comes by a few times to check if they're good but doesn't engage with the OP at all.
She doesn't even look at him and still ignores him when he comes to ask for the bill. Keep scrolling to read the entire story in the OP's own words below.
OP writes
Reddit/Junior_Gap2129OP's girl just looked at him all confused and he answered for himself
Reddit/Junior_Gap2129While the overall service was good, she didn't even look at the OP once
Reddit/Junior_Gap2129OP has offered the following explanation for why they think they might be the a-hole:
I may be the ah because her getting fired never crossed my mind and she might need the job.
The Reddit post went viral with more than 2k comments and here are a bunch of them
Reddit/Junior_Gap2129The OP's never seen her in his life
Reddit/Junior_Gap2129She needs to reconsider her job
Reddit/Junior_Gap2129You should not have that job

Reddit/Junior_Gap2129From someone who believes there's no AHs in the story
As someone who was a server, I can totally understand why she may have acted as such. When I was a server I was attacked by girlfriends for just asking what the man they were with wanted to order, I have also been sexually harassed numerous times when taking men's orders. Her getting a job where she doesn't have to interact with men is pretty much impossible, since you know, they're half the population. Something recent may have also occurred that she was still working through. She still has to pay bills.
From a Redditor who was previously a waitress
Reddit/Junior_Gap2129She may have trauma regarding men
Reddit/Junior_Gap2129She needs to get another job
Reddit/Junior_Gap2129She obviously took it way too far
Reddit/Junior_Gap2129This waiter only talked to the OP's girlfriend, gave him no attention at all, and avoided conversation with him altogether when she wasn't around. That is, in many Redditors' opinion, a legitimate complaint.
Although some people wouldn't complain, it doesn't really mean they won't report if their mistakes or attitudes seriously bother or anger them. The OP was declared not the AH and that is where we draw the curtain!
