Vegan Girlfriend Wants Boyfriend To Get Rid Of Cat Because It "Eats Meat"

Welcome back to yet another Reddit post that we'll be looking at. This one, in particular, was submitted to the relationship advice thread. This thread is seriously one of the best to go on if you need relationship advice, whether you're looking for advice on a romantic relationship, friendship, or even family relationship.

We love reading posts submitted to this thread because they're always so entertaining, and honestly, sometimes it really helps us see things from a different perspective as well. So, with this being said, we are looking at a post submitted by a man who is looking for advice on his relationship with his girlfriend.

Ultimately, the girlfriend wants OP to get rid of his cat because it goes against her veganism. Now, this situation is just as crazy as you might think it is because there are a lot of things to consider here, and honestly, the reasoning behind this is just a little wild.

The girlfriend feels like OP's cat goes against her wishes because the cat eats meat and could kill mice, so she's basically giving OP an ultimatum in saying that he must get rid of his cats to continue to the "next phase" of their relationship.

This is how OP started off his post and honestly we don't blame him for starting it this way.

He goes into some detail about how long they've been dating and what kind of relationship they had before talking about the cat.

This is when he really starts to tell us about his cat and how things were when they got together.

He gets into more details of how things are following the pandemic and that they've started talking more about their life together.

This is when his girlfriend brought up the cat situation and dropped what he called a "bombshell."

OP was clearly caught off guard by this because it's not something she brought up before.

We can totally understand why he would've wanted to know this sooner rather than later.

He says that he's honestly not going to get rid of his cat especially because she waited this long.

It's a little odd because of the vegan thing but I guess it's understandable.

It seems like OP's girlfriend is the only vegan who is really worried about what his cat eats.

It's clear that there may not be any compromise that is suitable for both of them.

OP then added an edit to the post after reading some of the comments people submitted on there.

People immediately were stunned by her ask for him to giveaway the cat.

Finally we got the thoughts of another vegan on the situation.

This is definitely a big red flag that clearly OP doesn't see.

This is a very heavy comment but it definitely needed to be said.

Well, this was an interesting story. OP definitely has a decision to make here and many people in the comments have said that he shouldn't give away the cat at all.

We are not sure how many vegans feel this way about animals but it's interesting to think about.
