Traveling with kids is something many people loathe or are often hesitant about. The additional planning required while traveling with kids is usually the reason behind this dislike. 

Children can be hard to entertain during the trip. Even when you succeed, it's challenging to keep them interested in one fun activity, and they will often get bored after a while. 

Traveling with children often takes away an important aspect; the flexibility and spontaneity of the travel plans. Both the children and parents are put under a lot of stress, which is why most people choose to avoid traveling with kids entirely. 

A Redditor who goes by the username u/StrangeConcentrate22 made a post on the r/AmItheAhole subReddit where she explained how she decided to opt out of a family vacation in case her cousin decided to bring her two toddler kids along. The user got condemned by her sister for wanting to exclude the cousin, which made her doubt the way she dealt with the situation.

That's an issue younger siblings often have to deal with.

OP can spend that time on her own and have her peace.

No one wants to go on vacation with a bunch of unsupervised kids.

“Toddlers are a nightmare. You have earned a quiet, relaxing vacation.”

Those are two completely different statements.

It's the exact opposite of what a vacation is supposed to be.

Common sense is not so common anymore.

OP has every right to feel the way she does.

The cousin can take her kids on a separate vacation.

It's not relaxing, no matter how you do it.

“I think you hit the nail on the head but the rest of the family doesn't want to admit it when you didn't take the bait...”

At least OP doesn't have to worry about any “surprises.”

Normally, this should not even be an issue.

OP's sister and her cousin have a special relationship.

It would only be a vacation for the kids.

Someone wanted to stir the pot by changing OPs words.

OP has every right to want a stress-free, child-free vacation. She never tried to exclude her cousin and only offered not to be part of the vacation if the toddlers get included.
