Guy's Parents Are Mad At Him For Getting A "Useless" Smart Car Instead Of A Family Car That Can Fit His Siblings In It
Getting something especially a car is important to get for your own needs, not for someone else.

We are back again with another Reddit post from the AITA thread that we like covering so much. Essentially, people come to this thread to get unbiased opinions and advice from people who don't know them or the people they are speaking about.
Sometimes it's better just to go for the people that don't know anything about you instead in order to get a real answer and different perspectives. So with this being said, we are covering a post that was submitted by a guy who decides to buy a car based on his own needs, and his family is mad about this.
He says that he bought a smart car because it makes sense for what he uses it for, but his mom and dad want him to get a larger car that he can help transport his siblings in. Obviously, he doesn't think this is fair, and his compromise was that they compensate for the more expensive car and gas.
So if you want to hear his full story and get a look at what people had to say in the comments as well, then stay tuned because we are going to dive into the full post and the best comments that people left.
OP starts off his post by saying that he is the oldest of his siblings and that he recently bought a new car that works perfectly for his needs, but basically his parents aren't cool with his decision.
u/MessageEvening7466He explained that he did what was best for him and his situation with how he'd use the car, and didn't consider his siblings because obviously.
u/MessageEvening7466People were quick to tell him that he wasn't in the wrong at all and that he is being responsible by getting a car that's well within his means.
eury13Pretty much this gives all the context that we need and it seems that the parents are the AH in this situation.
naisfuriousIt definitely shouldn't be expected but too many older siblings end up in OP's situation which causes them a lot of problems.
papacitosfHe did try to compromise someway but they should've expected that he'd be asking for help with it if they wanted him to get a different car.
squirrelsareevil2479They are trying to parentify him and again, this happens with so many older siblings all the time and it's just sad. He shouldn't be put in this position at all.
Lazuii_RoseThey did turn it down, but they should have expected that he'd ask for some sort of compensation for the switch in cars.
thefanciestcatOP does sound like a great guy with a good head on his shoulders so we're sure he will figure it out and be appreciative of the positive comments on his thread.
c_101It does sound ideal for him and that's all that should matter.
pretend-pandaPeople agreed that OP was not in the wrong, and he did the responsible thing by getting a car that was ideal for him and within his means. If he does this for his parents, it definitely won't work out for the better.
He should consider what the people in the comments had to say.
