Delivery services for food, groceries, and any other item you can buy at a store have become very popular lately. With current circumstances and just the convenience of delivery, these places have become something that is a regular routine for some people.
Delivery services are popular for people who can't make it to the store, people who are disabled, people that simply don't want to get out of bed, or those who have kids they'd have to wrangle up to go. Whatever the circumstance, delivery services like Doordash and Uber Eats, or Instacart is rising in popularity.
Most people have great experiences when using these services, except for this woman who decided to take her story to Reddit in the "AITA" Reddit thread. She decided to order delivery from a restaurant, but the reaction she got from the delivery person is not at all what she expected.
The delivery person was extremely upset because this woman lived "too close" to the restaurant and the delivery wasn't worth the money being paid for it. Most would like a shorter delivery address than something that takes longer to travel, but not for this driver.
This woman wants to know if she is in the wrong for ordering delivery when she lives so close. Let's dive into the story and the response.
Here's her story on what happened.
puddlespuddledThe delivery driver didn't react at all the way she'd anticipated and so she's wondering if she's wrong, or if the delivery driver is wrong?
puddlespuddledRight off the bat people started saying she was NTA.
coffin_raveThis is a great point, because you'd think she'd be happy about the shorter delivery.
The_BabeldomReddit comments came flooding in with great points.
Peacefull_OrchidShe definitely should've been happy about the short delivery, but she clearly didn't understand.
black_cat_2446Clearly people are on the customers side about this.
AttemptedAdultAgain, people aren't understanding why the delivery driver was upset about this.
MindDeep2823OP responded to this comment and she has a valid point. Is it an unspoken rule?
Nalpona_FreesunReddit is coming in hot about this delivery driver.
ExpertRaccoonDelivery is meant to be delivered, no matter the distance.
DanCynDanVery well said, the delivery driver was in the wrong.
bamf7101It seems that OP isn't too upset by the delivery person's actions, just a little confused.
Not_really1010Here's someone's experience being a delivery driver and how they would've reacted.
CornRosexxxAs long as you're within the delivery area then you can order delivery.
TastefulDisgraceSimply just don't work as a delivery driver if it's an issue to deliver food a mile away.
Ok-Bit-9529Quick deliveries are a delivery drivers best friend.
TogarSucksDelivery is an option for a lot of people and for a lot of different reasons.
AmiedeslivresAgain, NTA because you're allowed to get delivery for whatever reason you want.
Fit_Stock7256Very true, the driver could've been just taking out their bad day on her.
DjangofettBR549This also might be best for her, who knows.
UnEazyRiderAll in all, it seems that Reddit agrees with the OP and they think that it's odd the delivery driver was so upset over a close delivery. People with past driving experience say that they would've loved this short of delivery.
What do you think about her experience with the delivery driver? It definitely wasn't expected.
