Most dogs don't like wearing their winter coats. Hazel is not one of them. The silken Windhound simply adores her clothes and has a closet bigger than most of ours.

Hazel's mom May says that she is a "long dog" — she has a long body, long neck, long nose, and "linguine legs," as she calls them. So it's no wonder that her favorite clothes are turtlenecks.

The beautiful dog has specially made turtlenecks in many colors and patterns, and her mom occasionally matches them with scarfs. But it’s not just about fashion — the 2-year-old dog wears them because they are practical too.

Windhounds don’t have a thick undercoat and have a low percentage of body fat, making them sensitive to low temperatures. Hazel can get cold easily, and her clothes protect her during the fall and winter.

“Because sighthounds like Hazel are so thin, they really benefit from wearing clothes in the colder months,” May says. “Now that it’s getting warmer, she only wears them to take photos and spends most of her days running around naked!”

Hazel may look all fancy in her outfits, but she is just a happy, friendly girl.

“She’s genuinely got the sweetest personality of almost any dog I’ve ever met,” May says. “She’s incredibly extroverted and loves every single person and dog she meets. If I don’t let her greet everyone we pass on the sidewalk, she acts like it’s a tragedy.”

Hazel has become a sort of a fashion influencer on Instagram and managed to bring turtlenecks back in style. But the adorable dog looks good in just about anything.

“Hazel is honestly the perfect dog in terms of being fun to dress,” May explains. “She’s got these wildly long proportions and her black coat means that she looks good in pretty much any color.”

“She’s also quite a good model,” May concluded, “because she gets paid for her work with treats.”
