After Spending $200 Million On Making The Latest Thor Movie These Memes Are Mocking Their Decision To Spend A Nickle On The Special Effects

CGI has changed the movie industry. Whether for better or for worse - it's a long and complicated story, and we wouldn't really want to get into that.

But the fact is that the movies are much more spectacular now. They show worlds and things we couldn't have even imagined seeing on screen a couple of decades ago.

There were many movies that were groundbreaking - Jurassic Park, Matrix, Terminator, etc. Oh, let's not forget Avatar.

We all believed that CGI and visual effects could only improve after Avatar's release in 2009. You can't blame us, it is only natural to expect that every following movie would raise the bar even higher.

But that hasn't always been the case, particularly with movies like Thor: Love and Thunder. The Thor: Ragnorok sequel has drawn criticism for its creepy and unsightly CGI effects.

These odd sights aren't just the result of bad artistic work; VFX workers are frequently overworked and expected to accomplish more than they can handle given the time constraints. Twitter wasn't going to ignore the wonderfully eerie and meme-worthy imagery these hurried effects produce.

We have selected some of the funniest memes that deal with Thor's catastrophic visual effects, and we know you will find them funny. Well, only if you haven't seen the movie yet.

If you have, it will only remind you much money you've paid for tickets to see this CGI marvel. Pun intended.

Thor: Love and Thunder, the fourth chapter of the standalone spin-off starring Marvel's Thor, was initially released on July 6 and has since sparked intense discussion among fans and detractors.

Along with headliners Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman (who is returning), the movie also has appearances from Christian Bale, Russell Crowe, and Jeff Goldblum.

In the movie, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) embarks on a search for inner peace that is unlike anything he has ever experienced. But an assassin from another galaxy known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who wants to wipe off the gods, interrupts his retirement.

King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi), and his ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) join forces with Thor to defeat the menace. To Thor's amazement, Jane Foster mysteriously holds his mystical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor.

Together, they set out on a perilous cosmic quest to unravel the truth behind the God Butcher's retaliation and put an end to him before it's too late.

We have to be fair and say that the movie relies mostly on humor, not CGI to win over the hearts of the audience. The whole thing is colorful, flashy, and amusing.

And because of how much Thor: Love and Thunder relies on humor, there are a ton of amusing memes that break down the story, characters, and audience responses.

The movie is directed by Taika Waititi and features a lot of humor and meme-worthy moments. That's enough to go and check it out.
