Customer service employees see a lot of bizarre things. These stories are the type of stuff that will be completely believable if you would’ve seen them with your own eyes.
They probably saw how people’s tastes can vary from subtle preferences to something a bit more extreme. Most experiences would be chalked up to a passing thought, not impactful enough to question.
To each their own you know? But there are moments when a customer asks for something and it’s borderline weird that it haunts the employee forever.
Although that’s a bit dramatic, an experience of an ex-subway employee proved that humans can really throw you off guard. It started when OP was working there in her 20s.
By that time she admitted that she had made questionable sandwiches but nothing tops this. During one of her shifts, a group of high schoolers came in and she served one of the girls there.
She wanted a footlong white bread, starting out ordinary. Then she wanted cheese slices and moved on to no veggies and not having it toasted.
OP asked if she wanted sauce and she said yes. The customer wanted ranch and OP put on the regular serving of it, but the customer wanted more, and more and more and more.
Here’s the full story that OP couldn’t help but remember
pb_and_garlicOP, along with her relatively young co-workers were working the early dinnertime shift
pb_and_garlicWhen it was time to serve one of the girls from the group who came in, things started off okay
pb_and_garlicOP knows that sometimes, people don’t like as much flavor in their sandwiches
pb_and_garlicBut then when she put on the ranch in the sandwich, the customer kept wanting more
pb_and_garlicIt got to the point where all you can see is ranch rather than the sandwich
pb_and_garlicWary with the amount of ranch, OP looked at the customer again and she motioned for her to keep going
pb_and_garlicHer friends seem to not feel like this was anything new
pb_and_garlicOP felt like the situation was getting a bit ridiculous
pb_and_garlicAnd as if there would soon be a breath of relief, the customer wanted another bottle
pb_and_garlicThe manager gave in to the customer’s request
pb_and_garlicFinally, FINALLY, the customer was satisfied with the amount and said no to seasoning
pb_and_garlicThe customer sat down to eat it and that’s how the worst sandwich OP’s ever made came about
pb_and_garlicIf OP thought it was a joke, it wasn’t
pb_and_garlicThe readers were very amused with OP’s story
pb_and_garlicThis post reminded some ex-customer service employees of their own experiences
pb_and_garlicOne of the comments described their son’s weird combination despite his usual pickiness
WY_ReactorThe sweet and salty combination going wild
scrussFor those who have endless want of certain condiments, maybe this post would make you feel a bit better
MonsterXBait1This post reminded some ex-customer service employees of their own experiences
GallagherMWThey start off ordinary until it’s a whole Rachel’s thanksgiving trifle recipe kind of situation
lainey_bug_Not flinching or anything
AutumnsheehanTuna is a smell that could turn from stinky to downright unbearable
TheBelch86Not as extreme but a lot of people have strong feelings about pizza toppings
BreannaJoMorga1It’s like cake but with watered crust
Smithsheila00They couldn’t say no but they can kick him out maybe
SheMovedToYorkWell, they might not have known that so you can still be part of their weird stories
CuddlePotatoOP thought she’d go to work that day like she normally does. Maybe get a few weird sandwich combinations here and there for orders.
Then this customer came around, starting off ordinary, and then the situation went on to become one of OP’s worst-order nightmares. But at least she got a good story that entertained people out of it.
