Sometimes, parents end up relying too much on their kids to do things around the house. They forget that as parents, it's their job to take care of most of the stuff.

It's even worse when they don't appreciate all the help their kids give them. Kids shouldn't have to do all the heavy lifting at home; that's what parents are for.

But when parents don't step up, it can make things tough for the whole family. OP resides at home with her single mother and five siblings as she completes her university studies.

Daily, OP undertakes numerous household tasks, including washing dishes, managing the dishwasher, vacuuming communal areas, chauffeuring her younger siblings to and from school, and preparing dinner, all while attending university. Despite her efforts, she receives no assistance or recognition from her family.

One evening, OP returned home late from university, around 9 PM, after a discussion with her teacher following a lecture that ended at 7:30 PM. Upon her arrival, her mother berated her for not having cooked dinner, leaving dirty dishes in the sink, and requiring her brother A to collect the younger siblings from school.

Feeling upset by the criticism, OP was further incensed when her mother labeled her as "useless." In response, she tersely remarked, "Sorry for being useless," before retreating to her room.

The subsequent day, OP deliberately neglected her responsibilities, refusing to transport her siblings to school and abstaining from preparing dinner. Instead, she remained at the university until the library closed at 9 PM.

This pattern continued, resulting in a disordered household and several missed school days for her younger siblings, prompting frustration from her mother and other siblings. Contemplating her actions, OP questions whether she is in the wrong, despite feeling justified in her response to the ongoing criticism from her family.

OP's brothers shirk household chores, opting for gaming over responsibilities, while OP shoulders school fees alone with no support from their mom.

Some parents exploit the child who's willing to do the work.

OP's mom's behavior is unacceptable.

It's time for everyone, including the older brothers, to contribute equally.
