Everyone wants to know the secrets of living a long and healthy life and over the years, we have heard many stories from people claiming to know. I once heard a story of a man who was mistaken for being 80 years old, he was actually 114 years old!
He shared his secret for longevity which includes exercise, rest, and a healthy diet that involves products like garlic, honey, cinnamon, chocolate, and olive oil.
Well, now there's a new study that might be worth taking a look at and it's pretty interesting. It's that being stubborn might actually help you live a longer life.
Have you heard that one before? Yeah, I didn't think so.
The study, which was published in International Psychogeriatrics looked at different people who lived to 100 years of age and compared what character traits they each had in common.

The secret is being stubborn
The University of Rome and University of California San Diego performed a study, which analyzed 29 participants that aged between 91 to 101 years old. I know that this is going to come as one heck of a surprise to most people because as it turns out, fruits and veggies aren't the only secrets when it comes to longevity. Elderly people are known for being quite stubborn and having a strong determination but that just happens to be a very good thing in the mix of things. A person with a strong work ethic and has practiced faith in their religion is also more likely to live a longer life.
"These people have been through Depressions, they've been through migrations, they've lost loved ones," he said. "In order to flourish, they have to be able to accept and recover from the things they can't change, but also fight for the things they can." said Dr. Dilip Jeste.

Even a person with very limited mobility will have a greater chance at a longer life when their mental health is still younger than ever and self-confidence also goes a long way.
"Things like happiness and satisfaction with life went up, and levels of depression and stress went down," Dr. Jeste said. "It's the opposite of what we might expect when we think about aging, but it shows that getting older is not all gloom and doom."
The findings confirmed that a person who lives a life full of ambition and commitment to is always going to have a healthier mindset, compared to someone who thinks more on the negative side of things. So always stay positive and don't let anyone tell you to stop being stubborn because it could lead to a long life full of possibilities.
