Redditor Gets Reported By Her Roomie After Refusing To Move The Stripper Pole She Installed In The Living Room
"An administrator came to our unit and told me that the pole needed to be removed."

Living with roommates means you need to make a lot of compromises. You might have an idea about what you wish your home to look like, but since you share it with one or more people, they might have a completely different perception.
It's a sacrifice you must make until it's convenient to live by yourself or can finally afford your own place where no one makes the rules but yourself. Ignoring your roommates' requests would only turn your living situation into a nightmare since people tend to get quite spiteful.
A Redditor who goes by the username u/lavenderloverr made a post on the r/AmItheAhole subReddit where she explained how she previously got permission from her roommates to install a stripper pole in the living room. One of the roommates later decided that she wanted pole to be somewhere else, which takes a lot of time and effort to do, so Op refused to move it, and things escalated from there until the roommate involved the landlord.
The r/AmItheAhole community had a lot of different reactions to the user's situation. Scroll down to check out the full Reddit post, and scroll a little further to read the comments from the original post.
Here's the original post by Reddit user u/lavenderloverr:

There was no furniture when Op installed the pole, and nothing was planned yet.

Op's roommate wanted her to move the pole so they could put a couch in that spot.

The roommate wants to have a "cozy little nook" and doesn't like where the couch currently is.

The roommate ended up reporting Op for having an 'unauthorized stripper pole.'

Op didn't appreciate how her roommate dealt with the situation, so she decided to consult with the Reddit community.

Op thinks she might potentially be the a-hole for the following reason:

Here's how the Reddit community reacted to u/lavenderloverr's post:

You can restrict people from having access to your things.

Op had permission to install the pole.

Op's unwillingness to compromise made the problem a lot bigger.

You can't risk getting your roommate into that kind of trouble.

“Put that in your room where it belongs.”

Op and her roommates seem to have a lot of issues.

You can't turn someone's home into a bachelorette pad.

“This sounds like a college apartment situation and they tend to be a bit "creatively decorated" so meh.”

Op's living situation isn't going to last long if she and her roommates refuse to compromise.

A stripper pole is a pretty permanent install.

Op got permission before installing the pole.

The roommate shouldn't have complained to the landlord.

Since it's a common area, Op needs everyone's permission.

OP should find a civil way to end this conflict. She should come to an agreement with her roommate without involving the landlord since she could lose her livelihood that way.
