Father Gives Daughter The Silent Treatment After She Takes The Puppy He Brought Home To The Pound
We love our dogs, so if anything threatens their happiness, we're onto it, right? Well, recently one Reddit user has been dealing with a whole lot of family drama for this exact reason.

You see, the Redditor lives at home with her parents, her one-year-old dog, and her parents' 15-year-old dog. She says she adopted her puppy with her parent's permission, and the two dogs get along well.
OP explained that her dad works outdoors and often finds stray animals which he will sometimes bring home. Recently, he brought home a very nervous Heeler-mix pup.
The puppy was too scared to mingle with the other dogs, but she was very aggressive when it came to food. OP says the pup would snap at the other dogs if they went anywhere near the food bowl, whether she was eating at the time or not.
One day, while OP's dad was at work, her mother asked if she would consider keeping the pup as a friend for her young dog. OP explained that this wouldn't work considering the pup's aggressive behavior and that it wouldn't be fair to put that stress on the other dogs.
A little while later, OP's dad, who had been texting back and forth with his wife, sent a message saying that it would be okay to take the pup to the pound. So, OP and her mother took the little pup to the local Humane Society where she was checked for a microchip.
When they couldn't find one, they gave OP an agreement to sign the puppy over to them. They said if they didn't find a home for the pup within a certain timeframe, they would call OP and give her the option of adopting her before anyone else.
When OP and her mother got home and let her dad know what they had done, he was extremely upset. The Redditor says her dad gave them both the silent treatment for the whole night.
The next day he texted them a screenshot of the Humane Society's rules saying, they "didn't have to give her up so easily." He then texted a photo of the pup which had been posted on a Lost & Found page saying, "Look at what you did."
OP says she feels torn because the puppy was very sweet, but she wants to make sure that their other dogs are safe and happy. Keep scrolling to see how people reacted.

Here's how people reacted.
"You have to keep your current dogs safe."
"Food aggression like that is to be expected off the streets."
"You're NTA."
"Did you even check around to see if anyone was looking for it?"
"Your dad said you could take her to the shelter."
What's your take on this situation? Do you think the OP did the right thing for the puppy, or should she have allowed her father to keep it?
Either way, we think the puppy's safety and happiness should be the priority here. And that of the other two dogs involved.
