It's the best kind of free entertainment anyone could ever ask for.
About three months ago, Alex and his girlfriend were pretty psyched after one morning an unusual friend appeared outside their window in their upper-story apartment in France. The unexpected visitor was a squirrel with a stick in her mouth, making all the necessary preparations to start her family right outside of the couple's window.
The squirrel initially only placed her stick down on the window sill and then disappeared, then she returned a few moments later with another stick. She was apparently in the middle of a special construction project, she was building a nest on Alex’s window sill since it felt like a safe enough environment.
As soon as she finished, the squirrel settled in and that's when the show began. In the following weeks, Alex, his girlfriend, and their cat were lucky enough to get a private sneak peek into the squirrel's daily life, every single moment.
Alex and his girlfriend started documenting the squirrel’s life and daily activities on video and posted the footage to their TikTok account. It was already exciting enough to only observe the squirrel alone, but soon after, she was not alone anymore. Observing the nest got a lot more interesting after that.
“We saw her sleeping in the sunlight. We saw her smelling the air when she woke up — everything she did. And we had the chance to see it in an intimate way.”
It's with great emotion that I post here the last video of citron chataigne and his story. Thank you for following us in this magical adventure, we are infinitely grateful for everything: the naps, the jogs on the railings, the nest, the babies, your comments. If it happens to you, don't interfere: it's the best gift you can give. Have a safe trip, and may your life be full of nuts and cozy nests.🤍
As much as Alex and his girlfriend enjoyed having the mother squirrel and her babies in their window, they knew that one day they will have to say goodbye.
The babies grew before long and felt the urge to go explore the world on their own, so the whole family moved on.
Alex says that he and his girlfriend will keep an eye out for the squirrel who used to reside on their window sill and her babies. It would be interesting to see them out there in the world, living their lives to the fullest after seeing them being born and growing up right outside of their window.
