I am sure you have already heard, and probably watched, the South Korean TV show called the Squid Game. This stunning show has driven the world crazy in a short period, becoming one of the most popular shows nowadays.
The Squid Game was released in September 2021 on Netflix, and only in the first month from publication, this show has earned the title of the top-viewed show with more than 142 million reviews, and the number is still growing. The squid game takes the prestigious first place, as this is the most-watched show on Netflix ever.
This super-popular show was written by a 50 years old South Korean filmmaker Hwang Dong-hyuk, and his vision was to create something to intrigue the whole world. In one of his interviews, he said, "I wanted to create something that would resonate not just for Korean people but globally. This was my dream.”, and we all can witness his success.
Almost two months after the show was released, an illustrator and a digital artist, with a catchy username @nathanmadeit, has created an interesting Squid Game crossover. He recreated characters from the iconic Nickelodeon cartoon SpongeBob SquarePants as the cast of Squid game, isn’t that amazing?
From a very early age, Nathan started making children’s books with multiple crossovers such as the Power Rangers to save Winnie the Pooh from flying away in a Hot Air Balloon, and it was obvious that he was very talented. The left-handed graphic designer from Oklahoma, who specializes in Mashups, Parodies, Nostalgic, and Pop Culture artwork, made his mission to help fight global depression and stress also, as an individual, with his incredible art illustration.
As SpongeBob SquarePants is a funny, childish, joyful show and Squid Game is more of a drama series, these two shows don’t have much in common, but somehow Nathan managed to create some striking illustrations. Take a look at his outstanding artwork below and see for yourself.
