Biologist Spotted Real-Life SpongeBob And Patrick In The Sea Bed And Shared Pictures For Their Fans
This is a treat for the fans of SpongeBob SquarePants.
If you are a fan of the animated show “SpongeBob SquarePants,” you will definitely find this interesting. Biologists have discovered a real-life SpongeBob and Patrick in the depths of the sea.
It was during their routine task when Biologist Christopher Mah was watching a live feed of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). He saw two creatures in the sea that looked so much like the very famous characters from this show that goes by the names, SpongeBob and Patrick.
The bright yellow sponge and pink starfish were sadly not living in a pineapple under the sea like they do in the TV show. They were found instead at a depth of 2,000 meters on the Retriever Seamount, an extinct volcano east of New York City.
Another contrast to the show was that in this case the sponge and the starfish are not best friends.
"In all likelihood, the reason that starfish is right next to that sponge is because that sponge is just about to be devoured, at least in part," Mah shared.
A commonly known fact about sea stars is that stationary and slow-moving marine creatures such as sea sponges, oysters, and clams form their diet as they are carnivorous.
The character of Patrick is inspired by the pink sea atar and SpongeBob is based on a usual synthetic sponge. However, due to their close resemblance to the characters in the picture Mah posted, people have turned them into memes by adding legs and arms.
However rare it was, the picture of these real sea creatures brought a lot of joy to the fans of the animated show.
Mah shared, "If we can bring positivity and we can make people happy by showing them nature. Well, that's what nature has always done for us before."
