Mother Punished Her Daughter After Being Aggressive Towards Her Babysitter
When working people are pushed to the limits and they can't take everything anymore, it's only natural to quit. This is what a babysitter experienced with a 6-year-old girl.
With no one to take care of the girl, a family was forced to change their schedule. And now, the bratty little one can no longer do the activities she previously did when she had a sitter.
In an attempt to make the girl realize what she had done, the mother told the girl that it was her fault. But the issue doesn't stop there.
Her husband thinks that she's a bit harsh for saying such a thing to their daughter who's only six. And so she asked the AITA subreddit if she's the a**hole in the situation.
Parenting blog founder Vicki Broadbent also provided her insights on the situation. According to her, it seems that the little girl was not happy about having a sitter.
The girl might be feeling abandoned in this situation. With the way she acts, it also seems that her needs aren't being met.
Broadbent also made it clear that hiring childcare support doesn't equate to abandoning children. But in such situations, children have a tendency to feel that they're not important.

Not all children are comfortable with a nanny or a sitter.
According to Broadbent, children prefer the company of their parents. That's why it's always important to explain to their children that they need to work and while they're away, a sitter will take care of them.

Broadbent also explained the situation from a child's perspective.
When children appeal against having a babysitter and parents refuse to listen, children tend to act out. It's still important to make it clear that what the child said is hurtful.
But at the same time, parents need to get to the bottom of it. They have to find out what made them say the hurtful things.
Parents need to explain actions and the consequences of the action. However, the explanation needs to be developmentally appropriate and open-hearted.
