Gun laws in the United States have become a bit of a joke around the world. Only that joke is not really funny.

It is more disbelief that gun laws like these could exist in a developed country. And they really do the opposite of what laws are supposed to do - safeguard everyone.

But we all know it's not humorous when people die, especially when we know how many of them could have been avoided. There are those who take every opportunity to speak out about gun policy in the United States, but their voices are often drowned out by the flow of information and other international events, and they are only heard clearly when tragedy strikes.

The heated debates on gun laws that are currently raging are, regrettably, the outcome of a mass shooting that occurred on May 24 in Uvalde, Texas, at an elementary school, killing 19 children and two instructors. Celebrities and well-known politicians are utilizing their platforms to raise awareness of the issue in the United States and to provide ways to address it.

People on Reddit are doing the same, so when one user asked a question, "What, in your opinion, is a realistic solution to gun violence in the United States?" the answers came pouring in. We've chosen some of the most interesting, and we know you will agree with most of them.

The fact is that mass shootings like this happen mostly in the US. Other countries see mass shootings too, but they are mostly terrorism-related (although US school shootings could be labeled as a sort of terrorism).

And the entire world is baffled by America’s stubbornness to keep loose gun laws. This is one of the wealthiest countries in the world we are talking about.

Other developed countries don’t see such senseless violence. The USA sees 100 times more firearm-related deaths per 100,000 people compared to Germany.

So, what could be done? Do we want to see images like these?

Of course, no. But, do we want to do something about it?

Will we do something about it? We would like to have back the time when a pupil’s biggest fear was getting a bad grade.

Our kids are literally fearing for their lives. Kids should go to playgrounds and parks – not to their friends’ funerals.
