Woman Asks For Guidance After Freaking Out Her Nice Roommate By Sleepwalking Into Her Room At Night
"I am very worried she will ask me to move out"

Sleepwalking is no longer news as we've heard stories about it or even know someone who sleepwalks. Just to break it down, getting up and moving while still asleep is referred to as sleepwalking or somnambulism.
Sleepwalking, which is more prevalent in children than adults, is typically outgrown by adolescence. Numerous times, isolated sleepwalking episodes don't indicate any major issues or necessitate medical attention.
However, persistent sleepwalking might be a sign of a sleep problem. The likelihood of other sleep disorders and other illnesses being mistaken for or coexisting with sleepwalking is higher in adulthood.
An episode of sleepwalking can happen infrequently or frequently, and it typically lasts a few minutes but can last longer. The OP moved in with her new roommate, who has lived there for the past decade.
For the last 5 years, it has just been her there, so it is a period of transition for both her and the OP. The OP took her friend out and got home at about 1:30.
They both went to sleep in the OP's bed in her room, only for her roommate to wake her up. Lo and behold, the OP was lying down in the roommate's bed in her room.
Apparently, the OP slept and walked into her room and this shocked OP. She says she has no history of sleepwalking, as she wasn't drunk, nor did she take sleeping pills.
OP writes

OP's new roommate has been super accommodating and even helped her carry in boxes which she really appreciates

The OP was extremely apologetic and understood that she violated her roommate's personal space

And the comments from other redditors roll in...

People started sharing their sleepwalking stories here and there

This redditor suggests putting a chair or something else to block OP's exit in front of her door

A redditor had this to chirp in
Sleepwalking can be triggered by stress, new environment, new person in your living space, immediately introducing a friend into that equation that's a lot to deal with. Beyond locking your bedroom door, if you suspect your still sleepwalking set u so sort of exit puzzle for your room. Locks aren't really all that effective in my experience, I used to sleep walk a lot as a kid and in my teens. Chain, dead bolts, regular locks not a problem.
They might have some insight into causes

There wasn't even a reason for this redditor to be upset

Letting the roommate know she can lock her roommate too

The OP should apologize profusely and explain the meds

The OP dropped an update later on and here it is

With time, she can see that the OP does not do this and would never intentionally violate her space

One to two hours after falling asleep is the typical time that sleepwalking happens, so it's unlikely to happen while you're napping. A Redditor recommended that the OP buy a wedge doorstop to put on the inside of her door as that may help deter her sleepwalking self from leaving her room.
