In reality, elder sisters frequently assume a quasi-parental role for their younger brothers, whether as a result of the way women are socialized to behave or out of a natural protective urge for their younger siblings. This is something that society hardly ever acknowledges.
As much as siblings quarrel, older sisters have a rather strong inclination to attack anyone who tries to fight their younger brothers. Because they have experienced the same things, older sisters are frequently the ones to step in when parents are being overly strict with their younger brothers.
They are also the ones to remind parents to take their siblings' mental health into consideration if need be. Siblings' love and concern for one another are gender-neutral.
You want to take care of them and be there for them no matter who is a guy or a woman between you two. When you see a little newborn being brought into your home and see that kid grow up with you, you just want to protect them.
In actuality, older sisters guard their younger sisters too. Little sisters defend their elder brothers and sisters in the same way.
But for some reason, the notion that only brothers can defend sisters endures. That may be true, but let's not forget to honor these devoted sisters as well!
