Lost Sheep's Remarkable Makeover Reveals Unrecognizable Beauty
Weighing in at a staggering 77 pounds, his woolly burden rivaled even that of the famous New Zealand sheep, Shrek.

In the enormous expanses of regional Australia, a tale of resilience and redemption recently unfolded as a lost sheep, burdened by an extraordinary fleece, found its way to safety. The story of Baarack, a merino ram, captured the hearts of many as he embarked on a remarkable journey from hardship to hope.
Baarack's adventure began when he was discovered wandering alone, weighed down by a wool coat that had grown unchecked for years. Rescuers, astonished by the sheer magnitude of his fleece, quickly realized that Baarack's plight was unlike any they had seen before.
Weighing in at a staggering 77 pounds, his woolly burden rivaled even that of the famous New Zealand sheep, Shrek. Upon his arrival at Edgar’s Mission Farm Sanctuary near Lancefield, Victoria, Baarack was greeted with open arms and a newfound sense of purpose.
The sanctuary became his refuge, offering him the care and compassion he so desperately needed. Kyle Behrend, one of the sanctuary's dedicated workers, recounted Baarack's ordeal with empathy and admiration.
It appeared that Baarack had once been under human care. Signs of previous ear-tagging were evident, although these seemed to have been torn out by the dense, tangled fleece enveloping his face.
His condition was worrying; he appeared underweight and faced difficulty seeing due to the overgrown wool impairing his vision. The transformation that followed Baarack's shearing was nothing short of extraordinary. Freed from the weight of his fleece, he emerged a different sheep altogether.
Behrend marveled at the sight, noting that Baarack's fleece was among the heaviest ever encountered. Yet, beneath the tangled mass of wool lay a creature resilient and full of untapped potential.
Now, in his new home at Edgar’s Mission, Baarack has found solace among kindred spirits – other rescued sheep who share his journey of survival. Behrend spoke fondly of Baarack's resilience, emphasizing the sanctuary's commitment to providing a haven for animals in need.
Behrend emphasized the necessity of shearing sheep at least once a year to prevent excessive wool growth, as exemplified by Baarack's condition. Due to the prolonged neglect of his fleece, Baarack had become underweight, and the thick wool around his face severely impaired his vision.
For years, the animal's self-grown wool coat hindered its vision.

He was in poor condition and underweight, and his vision was hindered by the wool covering his face.

Baarack has settled in nicely at Edgar’s Mission, bonding with other rescued sheep.

Behrend praised the sheep for their resilience and courage, emphasizing how much the sanctuary truly cares for them.
