Sharon Burned Her Pie Then Ended Up Burned By The Internet

Thanksgiving Day can be hit or miss when it comes to food. There’s always that one relative who turns up with something inedible, the overcooked and dry turkey you have to drown in gravy to eat so you don’t offend Nana, pies that suffer their inevitable fate from gravity and end up dropped.

Some people take these kitchen mishaps with a grain of salt, it’s something that’s just part of surviving Thanksgivings. While others may not be too accepting of the fault and will place blame on literally anyone, or thing, but themselves.

Take Sharon Weiss, for example. She somehow managed to turn a Marie Callender’s ready-to-bake pumpkin pie into a charcoaled mess.

The pie was supposed to be baked at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 65 to 70 minutes. Whether she misread, skipped, or straight up ignored the instructions, we may never know.

But what we DO know is that in a rage, I assume as burning as the poor pumpkin pie, she took it out on Marie Callender’s. Sharon posted a photo of the (possibly broiled?) pie on Marie Callender’s Facebook page with the caption, “Thanks Marie Calendar for ruining Thanksgiving dessert.”

Being of an older generation, I’m not sure poor Sharon knew what she had opened herself up for. The internet is boundless and can be savage.

Sharon’s post blew up, much like her oven would’ve if she hadn’t eventually remembered to check on the pie. Folks showed up with an endless amount of cry-laughing emojis, memes, and relentless jokes at her expense.

It was the biggest burn-fest, surpassing the poor burnt pie itself. And while the original post WAS taken down, an internet hero, ridureyu, managed to save screenshots.

Marie Calendar's and Sharon teamed up!

Sharon Weiss eventually did an interview and claims the issue was that her oven was set to Celsius, not Fahrenheit, causing her to bake the pie at roughly 707 degrees Fahrenheit. She acknowledge that her comment was impulsive, and instead of being upset over her newfound fame via the butt of jokes, she contacted Marie Callender’s directly and they worked together to take down the original post, and still market the mistake in a fun way.

So, here’s to Sharon and her cremated pie. May she have her oven fixed and future pies unscathed.
