Roommate Asks Redditor For A Loan To Buy A Desk And Fails To Pay Back, He Considers Taking And Selling It

We're back again today with yet another awesome Reddit post that we're taking a look at. These posts are always so interesting to look into because they have a lot of information in them, plus we get to look at all the awesome comments and different perspectives in the comments as well.

A lot of the time, people like to come here to these threads to get an idea of what people might say about their situation. Essentially they're looking for an unbiased opinion on their situation, and so they come here to the internet to see what people might say about how they acted because people on the internet typically don't hold back.

With this being said, we are dividing into a post today that was submitted by a girl who wants to know if she's going to be in the wrong if she wants to sell her roommate's boyfriend's desk that she lent money to him for. She says that he's yet to pay her back for it even after eight months, and so she wants to consider selling it to get some of the money back.

OP's post was pretty short and to the point. She explains that she bought her roommate's boyfriend a desk but he hasn't repaid her for it yet.

People came to the comments and they were all pretty much on the same page. They said she has full rights to sell the desk because he bought it.

Simply put, it seems like everyone is on the same page about this for the most part. Ultimately, it's pretty much her desk.

She might not get the same amount of money back, but it is still her place to sell it because she bought it.

I would just say that because she bought it then she can return it. Maybe telling him in advance that you're going to sell it or he can pay you back for it.

This isn't a bad idea either. Something just to encourage him to pay up for this because obviously he's not inclined to do it now.

It may have been that the roommate misjudged his needs and thought it was more of a priority, but now it isn't so he's not paying up because he doesn't even use it. Essentially though, like everyone said she has the right to do what she wants with it.

Technically it is hers so she can sell it however she'd like. but she should maybe be considerate enough to at least tell him of her plans.

Ultimately this situation isn't as serious as some of the others, but we encourage her to do what she needs to, but maybe tell the roommate or her roommate's boyfriend about it beforehand so they can prepare. Either way, they should pay up, or she can just sell it to get her money.
