Ridiculous And Unethical Practices That Schools Impose On Their Students
And most instructors unfortunately turn a blind eye on them.

For most of us, the school was truly the highlight of our early adolescent years—some people enjoyed it, some people dreaded it, and some people are somewhere along with the in-between. That being said, a lot of us also had to put up with the most ridiculous rules and unethical practices in these institutions, and some of them even border the line of hypocrisy and bigotry.
From not letting students go to the toilet when they truly need to because "it's already class hours," to turn a blind eye on bullying and only providing band-aid solutions on "trivial" issues, there are definitely a lot of things wrong with the way these schools have molded their values throughout the years. Most Catholic schools out there even impose the most questionable practices and then put up a facade on how holy and good they are—as long as you don't discover the horrors behind.
While it's a no-brainer that every school have rules like the standard dress codes and the behavior you should always display at all times, there are also plenty of unspoken practices that can raise eyebrows even from parents who make their child study in a particular school. In the subreddit r/AskReddit, a user by the name of u/hugscar asked the question: "What are unethical practices schools do?", and the people of Reddit delivered.
Check out the highlights of the thread below!
What's up with these schools not letting kids go to the toilet? Not all of us adults have a good bladder control, how much more for these kids who literally still have undeveloped systems?
RedditWe wish our younger selves could have easily done this.
RedditPunishing the whole school because of some rowdy students who fought in a bathroom. Wow.
And throwing out students for not being able to afford food?
RedditThe thing about student loans, too. Ugh.
RedditSchools really be sacrificing their students' safety without any valid reason at all. When are those chains getting released—when they are already suffocating?
RedditThey also like to deprive kids from the most basic necessities, too, like water. Imagine being already dehydrated because of the hot weather but you can't drink water because of some stupid school rule.
RedditThat reimbursement could take months or years to come. The amount of financial burden these universities give to its students are sometimes even more than the amount granted to them.
"It's easier to kick out a quiet victim than a loud bully." This is so sad.
RedditIt sucks how much these schools go to great lengths just to ignore all the bullying that's happening inside the institution.
RedditPlus the faculty, too.
RedditThey also allow parents to buy their kid's recognition within the school.
RedditSelf-defense is a sin for them.
RedditIt should never be backwards.
RedditYour mind is already in a state of panic and you would be trying to remember where to place yourself in a line.
RedditThey always have these anti-bullying posters, but never actually do something to get rid of them.
RedditPoor kids, poor staff. Helping is even looked down upon.
RedditThe zero tolerance BS.
RedditLeeching off more money from their students.
RedditHis only punishment was that he would have to sit out football?
RedditWe spent years developing our bodies, brains, and hearts in school, and it's not really a surprise that we have gone through some of the most traumatic experiences there, no matter how big or small the issue may be. The bottom line is it's really cruel that we have to put up with these practices just so we can stay out of trouble.
