Matthew McConaughey Urges Americans To Act After School Shooting In His Hometown Of Uvalde And Showed Support To The Grieving Families Of The 21 Victims Killed In The Tragic Incident
Security comes first from the family. Parents make sure that their kids are safe from the tiniest insects to possible dangers in the surrounding like accidents, and natural or manmade disasters.

Schools are usually perceived as a second home for kids as they spend most of their time there learning, playing with friends, and doing other activities. However, what would parents do if they discovered that schools these days are no longer safe like they used to be?
No one was ever prepared for what happened in Robb Elementary School on May 24, 2022. An 18-year-old shooter had entered the school premises, killing two teachers and 19 children aged 7 to 10 years old.
The gunman was identified as Salvador Ramos and was a student at Uvalde National High School. It was reported that before going into the elementary school, Ramos had shot his 66-year-old grandmother whom he was currently staying.
Adding to the number of deaths are the 17 injured individuals who are able to survive the attack. Ramos had shot them as he made his way into the classrooms, shooting everyone on his way while he was barricading himself from the police.
While investigations are still ongoing, people from all around the world are beginning to raise concerns about the current systems in the United States. These include the security of the school, the authorities responding to the attacks, and the existing laws about guns.
Rep. Tony Gonzales posted pictures of McConaughey's visit with his wife Camila Alves McConaughey, thanking them for their support.
The incident was a total nightmare for residents in Uvalde, and for every parent in America who fears that anytime they drop their kids at school, it would be the last time that they will see them alive. With this fear, actor Matthew McConaughey was one of the first celebrities who stood their ground and supported the bereaved families.
McConaughey expressed his sentiments on his Twitter account after the incident has been reported.
"As you all are aware there was another mass shooting today, this time in my hometown of Uvalde, Texas. Once again, we have tragically proven that we are failing to be responsible for the rights our freedoms grant us," wrote McConaughey.
"As Americans, Texans, mothers and fathers, it's time we re-evaluate, and renegotiate our wants from our needs. We have to rearrange our values and find a common ground above this devastating American reality that has tragically become our children's issue," he continued on his post.
In line with this statement, other celebrities like Kim Kardashian had also expressed her concern on the current gun control legislation in the U.S.
"There is no excuse and no justification for what happened yesterday. The current laws in our country around gun control are not protecting our children," Kim wrote on Twitter.
Kim Kardashian calls for lawmakers to review the legal age to purchase firearm.
She suggests that the age should be increased considering that the mentioned shooters are below 21.
"Someone who is not old enough to buy alcohol should not be allowed to purchase a firearm. There is no world in which an 18 year old needs a semi-automatic weapon or any weapon, and no world in which the outcome can be anything other than tragic."
"We can’t accept this as normal anymore," wrote Kim Kardashian.
It is heartbreaking to see such young lives being taken away. The traumatic experiences of the survivors and the pain of the victims' families are indescribable and every support from society is much needed during this time.
Changing the system will surely take time, but it is worth it if it saves another child, another teacher, and another future. Humanity can do better by working together to make the community safer.
