Since the internet was invented there have been scammers all over the place. From Nigerian prince's that want your money to people, we call catfishers that tend to make you fall in love with them so that you can give them money.
Some have even gone so far as to hack Facebook accounts just for the fun of it and to gain some valuable insights into people's lives by gathering data. Now, we know this will not stop as long as the internet is there, but some people have started to stand up against these scammers.
How do they do it? This is not the case where you just block the scammer and forget about them, this is the case where one guy decided to play along with the scammer and ended up wasting two hours of his time.
Tom Sheerin a nursing assistant in the UK decided to give a scammer a taste of his own medicine when the scam artists contacted him on Facebook Messenger and claimed to be working with the "CEO of Facebook."
At first glance, it seemed like a totally normal guy messaging him on Facebook.
But it only took one more reply for Tom to know this was a guy looking to scam him. The scammer admitted that he didn't know Tom but that he was, "authorized to contact him by the "CEO of Facebook".
Now, anyone in their right mind knows this is a load of crap. But moving on he further said he needed to pass Tom some "vital information" and wanted to know if he has been notified of his winnings.
Needless to say, Tom was ready with a reply!
This is some laughable stuff! The scammer didn't even bother to do research on Tom before he messaged him.
The State-Federal Government, really?
Luckily Tom was ready again with another reply and this time he wanted to see the money.
This guy even went so far as to falsify a document stating that the winnings were real and that it wasn't a scam.
Did he really think people will believe his story?
Thanks to Tom the messages just got weirder and weirder and oh so entertaining!
Money being delivered by FedEx and Tom working with prostitutes?
This is gold right here!
FacebookTom gives him the best fake address ever and it wasn't long after that, that he had to pay some money to receive the money he has won.
Facebook Facebook FacebookYou see the scammer is not very literate and the conversation takes a confusing route where Tom is supposed to pay a "private Fedex agent" to deliver his package.
Facebook Facebook FacebookTom and his buddy the scammer keeps the conversation going, with Tom being unable to pay the money in pounds but only in Vietnamese Dong. The scammer looks like his brain is clutching because he just wants to know whether he is getting the money or not.
They end the whole ordeal off with a picture of a horse.
