Cats, the animal, are incredibly majestic creatures who often demand to be treated like royalty—which, of course, cats kind of are. Cats get waited on hand and food, and pretty much get to do whatever they want, even when they aren’t strictly allowed to.

Japanese contemporary and surrealist artist, Tokuhiro Kawai, has immortalised such visions in their special cat paintings. Using a renaissance style, Kawai’s cats have all the elegance and beauty of the royal court; just with cats, rather than humans.

You can absolutely picture these stunning, regal paintings lining the walls of a fancy castle, but if you are a self proclaimed crazy cat parent then you probably want them for yourself.
