Man Makes Up His Mind About Reporting His Mom To Animal Control Because He Wants Her Dogs Taken Away
"I informed my mom that I was doing this for the health and safety of the kids"

Most people think of dependency on a substance, such as alcohol or narcotics, when they hear the word "addiction." You can't blame them for it, as this is with good reason.
However, people do not only abuse or believe they are addicted to alcohol, ups, downers, and other regularly used drugs. In fact, by just changing the word "substance" to "behavior," you may include a variety of dependencies in the definition of addiction, some of which may surprise you.
The need to feed that obsession grows so intense that the so-called addict loses control and pursues the activity despite any bad effects, whether it is the Internet or bungee jumping. But in today's story, we encounter a weird, unhealthy addiction, and that is the new dog addiction.
Yes, the OP's mom is actually addicted to new dogs, as she's constantly bringing home new ones and trading out older ones. One of her Great Danes had a large litter of puppies a few months ago, and her house is full of dogs.
Not just dogs, it is also full of her grandchildren, as the OP's sister has five kids, and they all live with their mom. You can imagine a house where there are about 10 dogs and 10 people living there, 5 of whom are kids ages five and under.
The OP wants to report it to animal control as the whole house is a mess.
So now the OP is asking...

There isn't a corner or couch in the house that isn't regularly drenched in dog piss or sh*t

The OP's sister expressed her frustration feeling that she can't provide a clean home for her kids

The OP made sure to inform his mom that he was doing this for the health and safety of the kids

The aim is to improve things so children can remain with their parents

Those poor kids could develop serious health conditions living there

Why would the OP's sister have five kids when she can't afford them?

The OP's sister cannot promise this in a believable way

There's no way she'll be able to make it seemingly clean enough

It's a very unhealthy and unsafe environment for the OP's family members and the dogs

The litter is you g enough that they'll probably find a home

The OP's sister might land herself in a bigger trouble when CPS finds out the condition she left her kids in

Redditors basically advised the OP to make sure he contacts their local animal shelter(s), pet stores, and other sources so as to try and cut off her pipeline for new dogs. Apparently, most well-run shelters ask for information about prior pet ownership and will be less likely to her adopt a new dog.
In the end, the OP was considered not the AH, so he can go ahead and save those dogs.
