This Granny has refused to let go of her high energy dog, so her family is taking desperate measures to keep her safe.
Choosing to rehome a dog is one of the most complex decisions a dog parent may ever make.
For many individuals, their dogs are like family. They don’t only keep them company but provide emotional support for them because there’s nothing quite like coming home to your furry friend.
These dogs sometimes also help them navigate tasks and provide multiple health benefits.
Unfortunately, it may be necessary to rehome a dog. This includes situations where the dog parent can no longer provide adequate care for their canine or when a dog begins to exhibit aggressive behavior. No matter the reason, it’s never an easy decision to make.
We found one Redditor contemplating rehoming her grandma’s dog without her consent because she wouldn’t agree to do so willingly.
OP shared on the AITA subreddit that her grandma lived alone with her pet cats. However, following a break-in, she adopted a dog to scare off intruders.
OP further shared that the dog was big and inadequately trained; hence it was a struggle sharing a tiny apartment with it and pet cats. Despite this, OP’s grandma wouldn’t consider getting external help to care for it or agree to move out of her apartment to live with family.
The last straw for OP was when the dog knocked OP’s grandmother down during a walk, making OP and her family consider rehoming the dog without her grandma's consent.
OP, however, needed the opinions of Redditors before she could go through with it, so she asked the WIBTA question.

Here's what the Reddit community had to say about the story:
I would lean towards finding a new home for that dog and trying to convince her that she’s not providing it with any quality of life"
Her home, her choice!
An interesting suggestion, all the same.
The Reddit community believes OP would be the AH if she and her family rehome her grandma’s dog without the old woman's consent.
According to them, her grandma is an adult who can make decisions without help and should be allowed to do so. Who knows, she could even adopt a new dog just to spite them.
We also can't shy away from the fact that Max could put Granny in danger. But we're positive that the family can find a solution that suits everyone.
