Redditor Asked To Work More Than Agreed During Interview, Wants To Help But Doesn't Want To Make It Permanent
When it comes to getting a job, availability is a huge factor.

When you get a job, it's very seldom that it checks all of the boxes that you want it to check. Unfortunately, this is kind of just part of adulting and getting a job.
Most of the time, you won't be able to have the schedule you want, pay you want, shifts you want, and an amazing group of people to work with. It just doesn't always work out like that, and that's okay. However, this is kind of what OP Is talking about in this post.
We're checking out a post that was submitted onto the AITA thread, and this one was submitted by someone who wants to know if they are in the wrong for setting boundaries telling his boss that he won't be staying until 11 PM because that's not what he agreed to upon hiring.
He expresses himself by saying that he doesn't want to upset his boss, but he also wants to keep his boundaries because, obviously, this is his schedule. As long as OP sets his schedule or availability in the beginning, as he said, then he is probably in the clear here and isn't the one who'll get voted as TA.
If you're interested in what people had to say in the comments and also to see what OP's original post said, then keep on reading as we dive into the full post and the comments.
OP explains their situation and where they've been working, as well as the scheduling situation.
He says that the manager messing up his schedule is not a new thing and is a common thing that they have done before.
I don't think that the store operation hours really have anything to do with when he's scheduled though is it's outside his availability.
We totally feel him here with wanting to make sure his boss knows this won't be an every week thing.
OP wants to know if they'll be in the wrong for standing their ground about the 10PM time.
OP then came back and edited in order to clarify some things that they got wrong in the beginning
The manager basically told him that there was not really anything they could do about the 11 PM closing time.
OP should definitely start looking for other jobs and if they don't want to then obviously this isn't that big of an issue for them.
Life_FantastiqueThe labor laws are definitely something to look into because they may not be able to work that late period, and it could help their case.
SolidStateEstateQuitting the job to find another one might be the best bet for OP since he's unhappy with the way things are going.
Darkreaper5567Reminding their boss is the only thing they can do right now but it's the best card he can play right now.
MissSuzieSunshineThere were so many comments on here giving OP advice, but it seems that many told him just to get another job and to do what he needed to do. He actually doesn't seem that upset by it since he doesn't really want to entertain the idea of getting another job.
What do you think he should do?
