Keep on wearing your seat belt. It is a totally easy thing to do: you cross it over and that's all.

However, certain individuals actually struggle with doing what's been requested of them, and in this situation, it was a 21-year-old and a 24-year-old who were behaving like teenagers. On the r/ChoosingBeggars subreddit, a redditor going by the name Funsy_bob shared a long and engrossing story about how he chose to help a friend drive their children to the airport.
The redditor made a special effort to do this right before the beginning of the workday, as the airport was on the route to his workplace. Notwithstanding, things went bad when the passengers refused to wear their seat belts.
Oh well, the redditor wasn't going to tolerate this as he wouldn’t sit back and watch them risk the safety of everybody and their own license just to save those two the minor inconvenience of wearing a simple seat belt. Drama followed suit as calls were being made, and in the end, the two passengers missed their important flight, and it’s all thanks to their love of argument and stubbornness.
I’ll pull the brakes here and allow you to read the full story of how everything happened.
Put on your seat belts!
In order to protect everybody's lives, their licenses, and their money, it’s normal for the Redditor to not move until the two travelers wear their seat belts. They did not and bounced out of the vehicle, hoping to make it to the airport terminal.
One issue came up, though-one of them forgot a bag in the redditor's car, and the redditor wasn't willing to drive all the way with the bag since he was working. Finally, one of them shows up in a taxi to get the bag, but they'd all burned through so much time that they failed to catch their plane.
The children’s father then called up the redditor and attempted to nail the fault on him when it was evident enough that it was his hostile children who were to blame.
The beginning of the story...
A lift is needed
A bit extra time
West versus East
Turn up...
Seatbelt alert
Pulling over
Arguement starts
Roughly as follows
The conversation...
It continues...
Put on your belt
Belts on
Calls dad
Going back and forth
Browsing time
Choosy beggars
A phone call
Arguing again
A note
Later on...
Hang up
And finally...
There are rules that are put in place so that you and others are protected, so don’t try to bend them with the excuse of being late. Because if that were the case, everybody would speed all over the place and it would cause utter confusion.
Most of the redditors agreed with this perspective too, as most of them thought that the author made the best decision. Here's what some of them had to say:
Not wearing a seatbelt
So ungrateful
Reading through again
Plane issues
Leaving them behind
About the dad...
No arguments needed
Good on you
Redditors faulted the two travelers for misbehaving and being stubborn, as most of the redditors couldn’t fathom why adults would act that way. In the meantime, let us know what you think about the two young adults who refused to wear their seat belts.
Have you ever been in a situation like this, and what is the best way to persuade someone to simply flip their darn seat belts?
