Woman Gets Upset After Redditor Reneges On Agreement To Sell Her Beanie Babies And Instead, Donates Them To Needy Children
“The needy children don’t need these beanie babies as I do.”

Kids are one of life’s blessings, and there’s no doubt that they should be protected at all costs.
Unfortunately, not every kid gets to enjoy basic amenities like food, shelter, and security, much less enjoy the toys their counterparts do.
According to research, 1.2 Billion children worldwide are living in poverty. These children often suffer long-term and permanent harm, both to their physical and emotional health, as a result of this.
This prevents them from developing regularly, puts them behind in education, and affects their health.
Fortunately, individuals and organizations worldwide try to improve the situations of these kids.
When one Redditor found themselves with an opportunity to help out, they couldn’t resist it. OP shared on the AITA subreddit that they had posted on Nextdoor about what to do with about 200 beanie babies.
Someone responded, asking that OP sell some to her. They arranged to meet so the woman could select the ones she wanted.
However, plans changed when OP’s neighbor contacted them and told them about children in Panama and Ukraine who would undoubtedly need those toys.
OP then informed the initial potential buyer of the new development, which upset her. Despite OP’s efforts to make her feel less upset, she wouldn’t budge, stating that OP had reneged on an agreement. This led OP to ask the critical AITA question.

The story in detail...

OP agreed to meet up with their neighbor to sell some beanie babies to them

On second thought, OP decided it was better to donate the beanie babies to needy children in Panama and Ukraine

Unfortunately, their neighbor got upset and bashed them for going back on the initial agreement

Here's how the Reddit community reacted to the story:
"NTA. But I hate your response. You should’ve completely ignored her."

"NTA! You held on to 200 beanie babies for over 20 years for a reason."

"NTA. It’s so kind of you to donate to children overseas."

"I don't know what kind of person would get pissed over helping needy kids."

"NTA - we offloaded several crates to a local shelter and they were so pleased to receive them."

"You found a better place for the Beanie Babies and you let her know they were no longer for sale. End of story."

A very nice thought

We need more understanding people in the world

OP should have probably not responded at all

The comments section is filled with support for OP. I mean, who would fault OP for helping needy children?
However, some questioned the authenticity of OP’s neighbor’s donation claim. OP responded that she did not doubt her neighbor’s authenticity, as she had done some research on her.
Do you think OP was right to breach the agreement they already had with their neighbor? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
