When it comes to getting time for crimes, we might not all agree with the punishment that is being given to the person. We've all probably seen a time where we hear what the crime was, and then either the prison sentence seems not enough, or too much for the crime committed.

Now the justice system has its own ways of doing things especially when it comes to making sure that people are being charged with proper sentencing, however, sometimes for the public eye is just doesn't make sense. In this case, we'll be talking about a woman who was charged with murder after killing a child.

The other person was a man who was arrested and charged with 40 years in prison due to the amount of drugs they found on him. Some people might say that because there was a large amount of drugs that is why the man is facing so many years in prison.

However, sometimes you really need to consider what the actual crime is and clearly, the woman should be getting more regardless. One year is not enough for murder in many of our opinions.

Some people think that the United States is harder on immigrants or on people that aren't from here and that's why the guy is getting so much time.

This person does have a point though because this really means that he could be getting 40 years in prison, not that he was actually sentenced to 40 years in prison, but still.

It was also realized that both these crimes took place in the same state - Utah. So the sentencing differences are even more odd now.

This is the question we are wondering too because we don't get why she would even be able to only get 1 year for this crime.

We definitely think that 5 years is still too much if the woman only got one year for what she did, but that's just our opinion.

I suppose this could be a factor as well but they should put that in the report or something because it just looks unfair from our point of view.

This is also true too though that they would like to get clickbait so they will amp up to the highest sentencing possibility when showing it on the news stations.

Regardless, we feel like the woman should be getting a larger prison sentence and that's just us though.

Those plea deals will definitely get you and definitely help people get a lower sentence for something terrible.

We definitely feel like these prison sentences don't make sense but people in the comments did give a lot of insight into the details and why this might be the case. The woman probably took a plea deal to get out of a higher sentencing, which is honestly so unfair.
