Every June, LGBTQ people and their friends celebrate something called Pride Month. It's a special time when they come together to remember their history and show that they're proud of who they are.
It all started with the Stonewall riots in 1969 when LGBTQ folks stood up for their rights in New York City. Since then, Pride Month has grown into a whole month of events and parties.
During Pride Month, cities around the world hold all kinds of fun things like parades, parties, and workshops. It's a chance for LGBTQ people to be themselves and have a good time with their friends and allies.
And speaking of allies, more and more straight people are joining in to support their LGBTQ friends and family members. Even though there are still some challenges for LGBTQ people, especially young ones, there are lots of parents who love and accept their LGBTQ children just the way they are.
These parents show their love by going to Pride events with their kids and standing up for LGBTQ rights in their communities. Stories of these loving parents remind us that love is what really matters, no matter who you are or who you love.
And as Pride Month keeps growing, it's a reminder that we all need to stand together for equality and acceptance, no matter our differences. Go ahead and scroll down to check out some parents who are really proud of their kids!
