Management should learn to never mess with IT.
Office dynamics can often be challenging, with differing personalities and job descriptions sometimes clashing in unexpected ways.
One group that's frequently overlooked is the IT department. These individuals, often working in the background, keep our daily operations running smoothly. But as the story of Garth, a dedicated IT professional, shows, it's never a wise decision to underestimate or mistreat them.
Garth, a recent college graduate, was initially part of a three-person IT team at a branch office. However, after the other two members left, he was burdened with their responsibilities without any increase in his salary.
Despite Garth's consistent complaints about the workload and callouts, the office manager, Karen, kept responding with the standard feeble corporate responses and condescending lectures.
Although disappointed, Garth decided to stick around with hopes that the company would eventually recognize his worth. In addition, he was thankful that his office was in a solitary area of the building, meaning he could go the day without having to interact with the manager.
His plan was going pretty smoothly for a while until he got a call from Karen on a particular day to come up to her office. Apparently, she needed him to help move some heavy furniture around. But Garth objected as he was in no mood to carry out any further task that was out of his job description.
This refusal marked the beginning of Garth's suffering in the office. Karen decided to make work miserable for him, and she repeatedly wrote him up for whatever she could think up.
Unfortunately for Karen, Garth uncovered a secret affair she was having with a married co-worker, using the very office tools at his disposal. In a masterful stroke of petty revenge, Garth created a mass corporate email with various screenshots of the s*xting and rigged it to be sent out on a particular day.
But just before this nuclear bomb was released, Garth tendered his resignation to the corporate HR. As they say, "Revenge is best served cold."
