This is an incredibly happy ending to a truly sad story.
It's not every day that you go to work expecting to come home with a child. It's another to then come home with two! In March 2017, pediatric nurse Jess Hamm went to work at Wolfson Children's Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida and came across a baby girl named Delilah who was extremely malnourished and abused. According to reports, her injuries were from 'non-accidental trauma' and included broken bones and a fractured skull.
Jess connected with the infant almost immediately. "My heart was broken. I don’t want to cry. She was just so lifeless but she still held onto my finger”, she said. So Jess began the process of adopting baby Delilah. While sitting with staff and filling out adoption paperwork, Jess found out some huge news - Delilah was actually a twin and her sister Caroline was also in the hospital.
Jess did not even think twice about her decision - she adopted both of these girls, and has given them an incredibly loving and healthy home that they both deserve.
