Premature Baby Had No Visitors For Five Months So She Was Adopted By Her Nurse

Life can be hard. Particularly at the start. Thanks to the miracle that is modern medicine, most of us get to live past our infancy, even when born into some incredibly tough circumstances.

That is exactly what this story is about. Baby Gisele was born to drug addict parents at 28 weeks so substantially premature.

The parents left her in the care of the state and never came back to visit her, leaving her as an orphan who was destined to spend the first 18 years of her life in the foster care system which can be incredibly detrimental to children. What happened next is truly heart warming.

Gisele was diagnosed with Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome as a consequence of being exposed to opiates in the womb, meaning that it would have been even harder for her to find a foster family as not many people want to adopt a sick kid.

Happy family.

Happy family.

One of her nurses, Liz, had watched this whole saga unfold and decided that she needed to do something about it. Having tried to conceive through IBF unsuccessfully, Liz's chances of becoming a mother were running out as well. It seemed like the perfect win-win situation, and Liz decided to adopt Gisele.
