"We feel bad, but also, this isn't a play group, it's a support group."

Everyone has their own problems to deal with and adding a disability to that is a no, no. But then, there are people who are disabled and they do have to deal with it.
A disability is any condition, whether physical or mental, that makes it harder for the person with the condition to engage in a particular activity (or activities) or interact with the world around them. Some of the time, people with disabilities come together to form a union so they can support each other.
We see something of that nature in today's AITA story, or better yet, are we the AH story. The OP happens to be in a group for disabled parents, not for parents of disabled children.
It's important to get the difference here, as the group is meant for parents who have disabilities. While many of this group's members have a child or children with disabilities, that is not why they are in the group.
The purpose of the group is to have "a support network of other parents with disabilities free of the stigma and confusion that disabled people with children so often face." But then comes this parent who has a disabled child and wishes to join the group.
Bear in mind that she wasn't disabled, and when she was told she couldn't be part of the group, she flared up. Keep scrolling to read the story in full.

RedditThe phrase "disability" is used to describe how a person functions, including how they are affected by physical, sensory, cognitive, intellectual, and behavioral health impairments as well as different kinds of chronic diseases. Clearly, the woman misunderstood the purpose of the group and it's best they handled it once and for all.
