New Hire Gets Accused By Boss Of Not Being Able To ‘Work With The Flow” After Asking Questions About His Salary
“More like, "oh no, this person might be less than fully subservient."”

Money or passion? Some say both are achievable while others would choose passion since it would be easier to push yourself if you’re doing what you love.
It doesn’t mean that money wouldn’t be important, you have to be able to sustain yourself to keep going. But sometimes, there is just some boss that makes it even harder for their employees to get the salary they deserve, like the one a Redditor had to deal with.
OP has been interviewed to start a new job as a tutor and out of nervousness, he forgot to ask about important stuff like details about his pay. It was brought up by his wife and he texted his boss about the concern.
He started a conversation with his boss, asking him how often they were paid. The boss answered curtly that they pay employees bi-weekly, and no more information was offered.
When OP asked follow-up questions, that’s when the chat messages started going south. His boss suddenly accuses him of only being in for the money instead of ‘working with the flow’.
He goes as far as to say that he wasn’t interested in a candidate like OP. OP defended himself stating that although he was prioritizing his work, it wouldn’t be possible to do it if he was always worried about his finances.
This is how OP's conversation with the boss went

OP started with practical questions

But the boss immediately jumped to the conclusion that he was prioritizing money above all else

OP made it clear why he inquired about his salary

If the ‘boss’ that OP was talking to wasn’t the actual boss or owner, he better look into it because the one hiring him might not be telling how his whole process of filtering employees goes

OP could still be hired if things go in his favor

Although, seeing how their conversation went, and there’s a possibility that OP would work under him, the boss’ pettiness would affect OP a lot

OP can reassess if he really wants to work in the company based on the red flags that showed up in the chat

It would be a bigger nightmare to deal with and this would be a big sign for OP to decline working for them

Other Redditors are more concerned about how OP can spread the word about the company’s bad management

It would be a big wake-up call for the company if they finally start getting wind that their brand is being tainted

There are various platforms OP could post his screenshots on, other than Reddit

Platforms with a lot of audiences that would stir away from companies who raise red flags

When it comes to exposing someone from companies or companies themselves, a Redditor...

advised OP to be careful. Based on their experience, there are companies who would be more...

than willing to screw him over or intimidate OP.

The one who commented went through a lot more trouble and he couldn’t risk fighting back since he didn’t have resources to, they still advised him to seek legal counter-actions

OP might have a case here

You can have fun while working but only doing work without any pay that will help you survive

People think OP would dodge a bullet if they refused to let him start work after what he went through with the boss he had a conversation with. Whether the higher-ups know about the way this boss filters employees, OP had the right to know the answers to his questions without accusing him of being greedy.
It’s natural for people to worry about what they might get out of their jobs and if it’s enough to sustain them. This goes whether they’re passionate about the work or not.
