House dogs are often seen as members of the family, and as such, they should be treated well. This includes making sure they have plenty of space to run around and play, as well as access to food and water.

With the love and joy these cute critters bring to our lives, it's hard to imagine why anyone would want to mistreat them. It's only proper that we treat them with the same respect and love that they show us.

There's nothing better than watching a dog run around and play with genuine happiness. They make us laugh, they comfort us when we're feeling down, and they're always there for a good cuddle.

Sadly, not everyone shares this view of dogs. Some people see them as nothing more than property or animals that have no feelings.

It's important to remember that dogs are living creatures that can feel pain, happiness, and fear, just like we can. They have emotions and can even get depressed.

This is why it's so important to make sure they're well-cared for and not neglected by a person who is supposed to love them.

Redditor u/MTVoss recently shared a story on the "Am I the A**hole?" subreddit that puts his brother in the category of a neglectful dog parent.

OP explains that he and his girlfriend have been taking care of his brother's two dogs since he works late and just leaves them locked up in cages all day. This includes taking them out for walks and feeding them.

However, his brother has now put a stop to this by saying they need permission before they can go into his room to take out the dogs. This came off as very insensitive to OP, who saw it as a way for his brother to neglect his dogs even more.

Unfortunately, both brothers got into a heated argument that has now put the dogs in a precarious situation. Check out the full story below:

OP and his girlfriend have been taking care of his brother's dogs. But after his brother demanded that they ask for permission first, they decided to hands-off. Unfortunately the poor dogs are one's that will suffer for this decision.

We gathered some reactions from the Reddit community:

"Call animal welfare as this is cruelty."

"Honestly, if I was your parents I'd be ashamed that was happening in my house and force the dogs be treated better."

"You and your gf were attempting to help him out but if he wants to be an AH then do not concern yourself with his dogs."

"I understand where you are coming from but if he's that upset about you taking his dogs for a walk when he's busy than just leave them be and wait for him to ask you."

"YTA if you make dogs suffer bc your brother is an AH."

It's sad to see dogs being neglected and even worse to see siblings fighting over it. The dogs are the ones who suffer the most in this situation.

We hope that the brothers can resolve their differences and come to a solution that is best for the dogs. They deserve to be loved and cared for, not left to survive by chance.

Do you think OP did the right thing by calling out his brother? Or are you of the opinion that getting permission is necessary in this case?
