An Old Dog With A Large Tumor Finally Gets A Chance At A Better Life After Being Neglected

A neglected black dog named Holden was taken in by a nearby animal shelter in Atlanta, Georgia, in the spring of 2019. He was so close to passing out from starvation and appeared to have no hope of surviving, but later, he was able to experience happiness once more owing to kindness and love.

Let's get into the heartbreaking details of this poor but endearing fuzzy angel! When the police stopped a drug raid at a house, they discovered a weak, filthy dog there.

They took him into custody and brought him to the neighborhood animal shelter. Unfortunately, there was no accommodation for him because the facility had already run out of rooms.

While other staff members sought assistance, caregivers wrapped him in a blanket and placed him in the intake area. Holden was shaken and terrified.

He only weighed 25 pounds, which is 15 pounds less than a typical member of his breed. He attempted to grasp for anything in a bowl or that looked like food.

Holden felt so weak and hungry. The poor little guy was already traumatized by all of that when the X-ray footage revealed a sizable tumor in his abdomen. It weighed around seven pounds, according to the vet, who also forbade the dog from ingesting food.

Holden appeared delighted and wagged his tail enthusiastically after getting bandaged and fawned by a nurse, which was incredibly and heartwarmingly surprising given that he was in limbo, emaciated, and unwell.

The vet performed an immediate operation to treat Holden's tumor and remove it. He awoke from the operation after the process had gone smoothly.

His tail responded immediately to the sound of a kind voice, despite the fact that he was still experiencing anesthetic side effects and couldn't lift his head yet.

Releash Atlanta, a non-profit volunteer organization that works hard to rescue dogs from high-kill shelters all around the state of Georgia, took care of him.

The procedure went well, and he woke up from the operation

Holden was saddened by having to say goodbye to people at the vet, and when Ashley voluntarily picked him up, he sat in the back of her car. She then hugged him and took pictures with him to cheer him up.

After that, Holden received a temporary roof from Melissa Lentz, a seasoned foster mother for timid young pups, who also assisted in his recovery.

He quickly became buddies with the nine other puppies housed in Lentz's foster home as well as her daughter.

Holden was never a picky eater, according to Lentz. He always had a strong appetite, which aided in his rapid advancement. Additionally, the veterinary clinic reported some positive news: Holden's tumor appeared to be benign based on early examinations.
