Woman Asks If She Will Be An A**hole If She Bans Her Mom From Using Her Bathroom
Have you ever had a pet hate that you just can't get past? Something that irks you beyond frustration and infuriates you?
Well, Reddit user u/bingobongoalternate has, and she recently posted about it in the AITA (Am I The A**hole?) subreddit. You see, the 29-year-old says that her parents come to visit her at least once or twice every week.
And, for the past three years, the original poster has had one constant point of contention with her mother. OP's mom continually leaves the toilet lid open after using the bathroom.
The Redditor says she has asked her mother repeatedly to please close the lid, but each time her mom seems surprised by request. The OP has even resorted to putting a sign in front of her toilet that says, "Close the lid!"
The Redditor says that every other guest who visits her home happily complies with the simple request, but not her mother. So, why is it so important to the OP that the toilet lid stays closed?
Well, she says that it is terribly unhygienic, which really bothers her. And she also owns two large dogs who like to drink out of the toilet and make a mess.
The OP says she has run out of ideas to get the point across to her mother and that she is considering locking her bathroom door so that her mom can't use it without permission. However, she feels a little ridiculous going so far as to enforce her rule.
So, she turned to the Reddit community for advice. Keep scrolling to see how people reacted.

What's your take on this situation? Do you think the OP is going too far with her rule, or should her mother be more considerate and put the toilet lid down as her daughter asks?
Surely putting the toilet lid down is not too much to ask for the sake of keeping the peace in their relationship. After all, it is OP's home, and her rules should be respected by all who en he.
Boundaries are important in any relationship. And it's crucial to respect our loved one's boundaries, even if they're our children.
