A child's relationship with his grandparents is palpably evident, endearing, and universal. It's the only kind of relationship where people genuinely adore each other just for existing.
It is advantageous for both grandparents and grandchildren to have a close relationship in terms of their health and well-being. Grandparents give their grandchildren acceptance, tolerance, love, security, knowledge, amusement, and support.
Consequently, this has favorable impacts on a child's well-being. By promoting frequent contact, parents can assist grandparents and grandchildren in developing strong relationships.
Grandparents ought to be invited whenever feasible to frequently visit their grandchildren at home. Children get to learn about their history, heritage, and identity from their grandparents as they offer an essential link to the past.
Important life lessons and family customs can be passed down by grandparents to their grandchildren, who will not only enjoy them while they are young but will come to value them much more as they get older. Grandparents who are involved teach their grandchildren that they can rely on and love someone other than their parents.
But then, we see a totally different case in today's story, as the OP's kids didn't want to speak to their grandma. OP's MIL had been terrible to her, but she has always been open to her kids having a relationship with their grandma.
Apparently, they weren't interested, and the OP chose to share a funny conversation that occured between her MIL and her son.

DH called MIL back and she gave an offer for them to come over and do slip n slide and water balloons. I'm all for it because I get some time to myself to watch the new season of the great and a break. The kids will come home worn out and will go to bed easy tonight. I've stopped responding to her craziness and maintained boundaries and she's learned I don't give in or take the bait anymore. She knows if she gives a big negative reaction we will take a break until she calms down. (I know it isn't possible in all cases, but I have her "trained" for lack of a better term.)
