Real-Life Cinderella Calls Out Her Stepmother On Reddit For Being A "Slob"
We all know the story of Cinderella and her wicked stepmother. But surely that's just a fairytale and no one actually lives like that, right?
Well, recently, Reddit user u/imnotamaid32 posted a story in the AITA (Am I The A**hole?) subreddit that has us thinking we may have found the real-life version of the Disney princess. You see, the 19-year-old typically spends a few days at her mom's house each week and the rest of the time with her dad and stepmother.
The original poster explained that her father has his own business and spends a lot of time away from home for work, whereas her stepmom is a real estate agent who works from home most of the time. The Redditor says whenever she's at her dad's house, she always cleans up after herself, but her stepmother does very little around the house.
The OP says that while her dad was away on business recently, the house was absolutely disgusting. There were dirty dishes, groceries all over the counter, and skid marks in the toilet - yikes!
Understandably, the Reddit user says she's not about to clean up after her stepmother, so she left the mess there - except for the bathroom since she had to use it. When OP's dad got home from his trip, he was furious at the state of the house.
He asked his wife why the house was so dirty, and she said she'd "had a busy week." When he confronted OP about the state of the house, she explained to him that it was all her stepmother's mess.
Well, OP's stepmom must have been triggered because she started going off about how the Redditor "never does anything to help around the house" and calling her a "pig." The Reddit user told her stepmom to stop deflecting her own behavior and that cleaning her "skid marks" off the toilet was more than her fair share of cleaning up after her.
OP's stepmom got embarrassed (understandably) and stormed off. That's when the Redditor's dad told her she "should've been the bigger person and cleaned the mess."
Naturally, the Reddit community had plenty to say about all of this. Keep scrolling to see how they reacted.

The 19-year-old typically spends a few days at her mom's house each week, and the rest of the time with her dad and stepmother.

The OP says that while her dad was away on business recently, the house was absolutely disgusting.

Understandably, the Reddit user says she's not about to clean up after her stepmother, so she left the mess there.

When OP's dad got home from his trip, he was furious at the state of the house. And when he confronted her about the state of the house, she explained to him that it was all her stepmother's mess.

But the Redditor's dad told her she "should've been the bigger person and cleaned the mess."

Here's how people reacted.

"Don't clean her messes."

NTA.

"You are not responsible for being the bigger person."

"If you've cleaned up after yourself, you've done your part."

"Trophy wife made a mess."

She needs to clean her own mess!

"Tell him he can be the bigger person."

"She should be embarrassed."

Simple!

"So your dad wants you to be her maid?"

Oh, hell no!

Ouch!

"That's a bit rich!"

Cinderella? Is that you?

"Don't play that game with him."

"She is not your responsibility."

"You are his child, not the maid!"

"You deserve better."

"She needs to hire a cleaning service."

What's your take on this situation? Do you think the OP is overreacting, or is it entirely ridiculous that her dad would expect her to clean up after her stepmother?
Surely everyone can just clean up after themselves? After all, Cinderella was a fairytale, and OP should not be treated like a live-in maid!
